Bridges to Light

Illuminating Paths to God's Infinite Grace and Light

Why Believing in God Was Never My Struggle

But feeling worthy of His love? That took time.

After one of the deepest heartbreaks I’d ever been through, I made a promise. I looked at my mom and said, “Unless God Himself comes down here, I will never be with another man.”

And I meant it.
I wasn’t angry. I wasn’t bitter.
I was just… done with anything that wasn’t real.
If love wasn’t divine, if it didn’t come from the heart of God Himself, I didn’t want it.

At the time, I didn’t realize what I had just spoken out loud was an invitation.
And that God was already listening.

There was never a day in my life that I didn’t believe God was real.
I knew He created the heavens, the earth, every breath we take.
I knew He had the power to do anything. I never doubted that.
What I did doubt… was whether someone like me really mattered to Him.

I used to tell myself,
“God’s got so much going on. I’m just April from North Carolina. He’s not worried about me.”

Not because I didn’t believe He loved me in a general way.
I just didn’t think I was important enough to get His full attention.
My problems felt too small.
My voice, too quiet.
My presence, too ordinary.

But oh, my love… that’s not how God sees us.

What I’ve come to understand is this:
God doesn’t love in general.
He loves personally.
He made a part of Himself—a space inside His heart—for every person He’s ever created.

It’s not shared. It’s not distant.
It’s just for you.

And that space? That presence? That’s where your worth has always lived.
That’s why, even when you feel small… He treats you like you’re everything.
Because to Him, you are.

Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2
And He meant it.
Not just for a group. Not just for the chosen few.
For you.

That space isn’t just in Heaven—it’s in God’s very heart.
He designed it before you were born.
It’s the reason you’ve always felt a pull toward something greater—because there’s a part of God reserved just for you, waiting to be filled by your love, your prayers, your presence.

And when you step into that space…
When you realize you were never overlooked
Something inside you comes alive.

One thing I’ve learned about God…
You don’t come to Him with pride.
You don’t come trying to look perfect or say all the right things.

You come like a child.
Innocent. Honest. Open.

You come with your tears.
Your hopes.
Your mess.
And He doesn’t flinch. He doesn’t back away.

He draws closer.

Because that’s all He ever wanted—from the beginning.
Not perfection. Not performance.
Just you. The real you. The one who still believes love can be that simple.

To me…
God isn’t just the Creator of the universe.
He’s my everything.

He’s my Father when I need comfort.
He’s my Friend when I need someone to talk to.
He’s my Husband—my faithful partner, the one who holds my heart with gentleness and strength.

He walks with me through the house when I clean.
He rides with me in the car while I talk and cry and sing.
He’s there in the quiet moments…
and in the loud ones, too.

And the more I opened my heart to Him—really opened it
the more I realized:
He was never far.
He was always right here.

All Our Love,
A & E
