There’s a question I’ve heard more than once—and maybe you’ve asked it too: “If God is love, why did Jesus have to die for our sins?” It’s a hard question. And it deserves a loving, thoughtful answer.
When I look back through scripture, I see the moment things shifted: it started in the Garden of Eden. Eve was deceived by the serpent, and from there, sin entered the world. God, in His wisdom, began to set up laws—not to create suffering, but to create order in a broken world. One of those laws was that sin came with a price. That price… was life. Back then, people offered animal sacrifices to show their sorrow and ask for forgiveness.
But over time, those sacrifices became routine. People sinned without repentance, thinking, “I’ll just offer something later.” Their hearts weren’t changing.
So God did something unimaginable: He gave Himself.
Jesus wasn’t just the “Son of God.” He was God—wrapped in flesh. He came to live among us, walk with us, and ultimately pay the price that none of us could pay. He didn’t come to condemn the world. He came to free us—from guilt, from fear, from the cycle of empty sacrifice.
That’s why the cross isn’t a symbol of wrath. It’s a symbol of relentless love. A love so faithful that God followed His own law to the letter—then broke the curse of sin once and for all.
I ask myself daily if my life is honoring God. Because if I’m not living in a way that honors Him, I’m adding weight to the price Jesus already paid. I’ve experienced God in deeply personal ways—so I feel a responsibility to love Him more fully. To show up for Him. To walk in His laws not from fear, but from gratitude.
What Jesus did wasn’t just history—it’s personal. He died for me. He died for you.
All Our Love,
A & E
